Club History
The Wallingford-Swarthmore (Strath Haven) Fencing Club was established August 1998 at Strath Haven Middle School. Our members include students from the six schools within the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District as well as members of the immediate communities of Wallingford, Swarthmore, South Media, and Rose Valley. We are a member of the United States Fencing Association, Philadelphia Division and have alliance with the Temple Owls fencing team, Temple University.
The club has participated in community fencing programs for the Swarthmore Recreation Association
as well as the WSSD summer school program. Within our first year, our members have been invited to many prestigious
fencing tournaments including qualification to the US Summer Fencing Nationals in July
1999 in Charlotte, NC.
